With last year’s growing and picking season well and truly over, the hard yakka is now in full swing, in preparation for a successful 2020 crop!
There is much to do, with light pruning to be done, trellises to be tightened up, vermin proof fences repaired, and Mr Cottontail rabbit and his friends to be permanently evicted from the vineyard before spring growth begins
We have had some excellent amounts of rain already since the start of Autumn, with the deep, thirsty, quartz flecked clays below the vineyard soaking up the water hungrily, providing a good reservoir of moisture for the vines long march into the summer heat, and the dam has been filling nicely.
